The Beach House, Baycliff, Cumbria
I came across The Beach House - a Walter Segal 'Green Build' on a drive to Cumbria last weekend. I read about it recently as part of the Cumbria Green Build Festival. Walter Segal was a community architect and his name is synonymous with self build housing. Can't wait for the next London Open House Event - I'd love to see inside one of the properties on Walters Way or Segal Close. See pictures below.
One example of a Walter Segal self-build which is a little closer to home for me is a self-build cabin with a living roof which is used as a classroom at Offshoots, the community permaculture project in Burnley. Worth a visit I think.

Tree Of Knowledge, Salford
Just back from a trip to see Salfords Tree of Knowledge Mural. The mural was designed for Cromwell Secondary School for Girls by Alan Boyson. The school has now been demolished and all that remains is the north end wall of the school which carries the mural. I love it! Read more about it on the Twentieth Century Society's website.
